"I am drawing a red line against the lack of space and funding faced by women street vendors of fruits and vegetables in Burkina Faso."

I am Salamata Zoungrana, comrade of proud Burkina Faso.

I draw the line in the sand against the lack of space and funding for women street vendors of fruits and vegetables in Burkina Faso.

If it were up to me, I would finance the construction of modern markets and make it easier for these women to access funding for their projects.

As a street vendor myself, I am committed to defending their cause, because these women are pillars of support for their families. Our challenge is to continue this fight until we see them thrive in their businesses.

Salamata Zoungrana is the Deputy General Secretary of SYNAVFL-BF, the National Union of Fruit and Vegetable Vendors of Burkina Faso, where she also oversees activity planning.

The organisation is affiliated with the FO/UNS and works in partnership with StreetNet International and the IUF. Its core objective is to defend the interests of its members, particularly through social protection, poverty reduction, and the defence of their rights, while ensuring information is accessible to all vendors.

Salimata and SYNAVFL-BF are committed to strengthening collaboration with Fight Inequality Alliance especially in Burkina Faso.
