"With our rights slowly being upheld locally and internationally, my biggest goal is to further them by establishing a national level women’s rights conference and spread it across Sri Lanka. Our next step is to take that strength to the global stage."

"We are dedicated to secure women’s rights, workers’ rights, and human rights."

"We are dedicated to secure women’s rights, workers’ rights, and human rights."

I became a leader in the early 1990s after the textile factory where I worked closed, and many women lost their livelihoods. I began organising to fight for the rights and benefits that women workers deserve.
For thirty years, I have been committed to securing women’s rights, workers’ rights, and human rights, and strengthening women’s leadership in the labour movement. It’s my duty to continue this journey.
Because of my commitment to my role as a leader I faced the challenge of not having the time nor energy to develop my English and technical skills. Another challenge is navigating labour unions dominated by men.
Nevertheless we have come far, and I can guarantee that we are able to power through these challenges and win it all for our fellow women.
